Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Foreperson, Wiring & Service to join our team!

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Supervisor, Wiring & Service, you will be responsible for overseeing, and supervising the work carried out in the Wiring & Service workforce (in stations, yards, facilities, repair shops, and throughout TTC properties). This involves the installation, maintenance, inspection, repair and testing of various electrical systems (i.e., electrical, technical, structural) and/or equipment. This may include work with electronic and electrical equipment, power distribution equipment, and cables that provide traction power for streetcar and subway services.

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

Inspect equipment and/or systems (i.e., electrical, technical, structural), test, and repair as necessary.

Review, modify, and update or upgrade systems and databases on an on-going basis (both hardware and software) as new information relevant to work is introduced.

Liaise with other colleagues, support staff, other departments, and potentially external customers or stakeholders concerning routine matters related to the work assigned.

Develop and organize materials or procedures (i.e., technical manuals, supplier information).

Provide technical expertise, guidance, assistance and recommendations for the area of responsibility as needed.

Plan, adjust, and project work, schedules, costs, and systems as needed.

Address environmental, safety, and other compliance issues related to operations in the Department or Section.

Record information and communications (e.g., reports, estimates, employee-related documented, schedules, inventory) and store appropriately for Department use. Distribute to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.

Review, process, and monitor information (data, records, processes and/or equipment inventory), following up, and updating as required.

Complete tasks in relation to managing people, including administrative duties along with approving/authorizing requests ensuring they are within established standards, related policies and compliance regulations.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

Your educational background will consist of the completion of a three-year community college technologist diploma or a university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical Engineering/Electronic Technology) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

Your application will reveal possession of a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (Construction and Maintenance, 309A)

Must have a valid non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license; may be required to use personal vehicle for work assignments.

Your possession of an ECRA/ESA Master Electrician License or equivalent will be considered an asset.

Your application will demonstrate thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, emergency power supplies and light and power distribution systems.

Additionally, your application will reveal your ability to plan, assign and direct the work a skilled unionized workforce, along with thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code

Understanding of applicable legislation and regulations and collective agreement(s) would be an asset.

You will have sound judgement, well-developed problem solving, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
