The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, test and support technology solutions and products that enable business capabilities across CPP Investments. You will partner closely with business and technology teams, applying your understanding of the technical landscape and business needs to assess requests, develop well-reasoned solutions and continuously improve engineering practices.

Alternative Investments Technology partners with investment teams to deliver and support technology solutions that enable CPP Investments’ investment activities. Within this group, the Real Assets technology team supports Real Assets, which oversees CPP Investments’ global investments in real estate, the energy sector and infrastructure focusing on long-term growth and sustainable value creation.

The Team

Alternative Investments Technology partners with investment teams to deliver and support technology solutions that enable CPP Investments’ investment activities. Within this group, the Real Assets Technology team supports Real Assets, which oversees CPP Investments’ global investments in real estate, energy and infrastructure, with a focus on long-term growth and sustainable value creation.

Accountabilities

Design, build, test and support technology solutions and enhancements independently within an Agile environment

Apply engineering best practices and drive continuous improvement through coaching and influence

Develop a strong understanding of the technical landscape and supported business capabilities to apply critical thinking to business requests

Foster agility and innovation through experimentation, early feedback and responsiveness to evolving business needs

Frame complex problems clearly, collaborate with colleagues and build support for well-reasoned recommendations

Research and develop proficiency in new and complex technologies while adhering to Agile software development lifecycle practices

Foster collaboration, mentorship and continuous learning while building strong relationships with business, technology and vendor partners

What You Bring

Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field, such as Engineering or Computer Science

5+ years of relevant experience

Extensive experience with programming languages such as Python and Java

Experience with software development practices, including version control, testing methodologies and Agile development

Ability to write clean, readable and well-documented code while adhering to coding standards

Ability to independently research and develop proficiency in complex technologies

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues and develop well-reasoned recommendations
